Bauvill were appointed to deliver the provision of four temporary pop-up classrooms whilst extensive internal infrastructure works took place within the school. Works includes the formation of new road and pathways to facilitate improved access to the allocated space which had previously been an unused area to the back of the school.
Before the logistics of placing the new classrooms into situ could be addressed, extensive land surveys and planning was required to ensure solid foundations and suitability to house the units. Through these surveys, it was identified that Bauvill would need to create new piled foundations for a direct lift and drop crane lift, including back-filling and various enabling ground works. These works were scheduled in during school holidays, mitigating any operational disruption to the school whilst maintaining the safest option of working environment.
Considerate to the time restraints, whilst upholding the safest methods of working, Bauvill’s site team delivered substantial ground works in readiness for the new piled foundations. Once the foundations had set and been tested, the main crane lift was scheduled with guidance from Bauvill’s experienced Project Management. The lift was delivered with precision and efficiency over the coming days which allowed the programme to gain a head start in the new electrical connections phase. The final works included formation of a new road and pathways, along with extending the existing car park capacity.
The temporary classrooms and new infrastructure were delivered ahead of time and allowed for the school to fit out each unit in time for the end of the holidays. As one of Bauvill’s first projects within the Education sector, the quality of our work and efficient delivery was credited by the school’s board, leading to further private work in the local area.
